A medium sized bird that thrives on insects, small birds, and rodents. They often impale their prey on branches or barbed wire. The Loggerh Head Shrike is threatened by a host of problems, especially on the Channel Islands off the coast of Southern California.


Loggerhead ShrikeLánius ludoviciánus An uncommon bird, can be confused with the Mockingbird. Hooked bill and the facial mask with the drop help identify this "looker."
