Star Tests

These are the results of photo sessions for March 29, 1998, 08:30 UT.

Object: Chi in Ursa Major. Was looking for the Super Nova in NGC 3877. Didn't see anything visual and thought film might render something. Still haven't seen it.
Exposure: 30 minutes
Lens: Sigma 600mm f/8
Film: T-Max 400, developed in HC-110, solution B

Object: Merak in Ursa Major. Notice the image around the six o'clock position of Chi. I've looked at the negative and there is density there. However, it can't be an out of focus star because the other star images are much tighter. Any ideas? I think the "blooming" effect is from dew beginning to coat the lens.
