Comet Macholtz (C/2004 Q2)

Comet Macholtz C/2004 Q2
RA: In Taurus
DEC:

Scope/lens: Nikon 300mm F/2.8 lens
Mount: tripod
Fuji S2 , ISO 800
Exposure: 4 sec.

Location: Goleta,California, Santa Barbara County, CA

It's remarkable that a four second exposure with a digital camera will render sufficient detail without the use of a clock drive. I have found
the extra sensitivity of a digital camera can be useful. In this case, the short exposure was fast and did not require setting up an equatorialmount for the exposure. Of course, a fast lens such as the Nikon f/2.8 does help in the process.
